St. John Institute of Technology (SJIT) was founded in April 1989 by Dr. Felizardo Y. Francisco and Engr. Benito F. Padallan as a response to the increasing demand for technical education in the rapidly growing industries of Novaliches.

On September 18, 1989, SJIT was officially registered as a non-stock, non-profit educational institution through the collaborative efforts of its Board of Trustees: Cesar J. Silvestre, Elpidio J. Cardenas, Orvil M. Molina, Demetrio L. Pasco, Juanito B. Garcia, Victoria A. Padallan, Marcela S. Francisco, and Gemma A. Padallan.

By June 11, 1990, SJIT was granted a government permit by the National Capital Region (Department of Education, Culture, and Sports) to offer five full-time technical courses:

  • Automotive Mechanics
  • Diesel Mechanics
  • Industrial Electricity
  • Machine Shop Practice
  • Radio-Television Mechanics

In its first year, SJIT achieved significant success, with 90% of its graduates starting small to medium-scale businesses under the SJIT Placement and Assistance Program. In recognition of this achievement, the institution was granted full government recognition on March 27, 1991, effective for the academic year 1991-1992.

As part of its continued growth, SJIT expanded its programs to include:

  • Technical Technology
  • Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Education
  • Engineering Courses

By 1997, SJIT had achieved college status, officially adopting the name St. John Technological College of the Philippines (SJTCP).

Under the leadership of Dr. Laura A. Lintao, SJTCP continues to focus on academic excellence, strategic planning, efficient time management, and continuous facility improvements. With the full support of its Board of Trustees, the college remains committed to achieving its long-term vision: attaining university status in the near future.
