The 2026 Best Thesis Award at St. John Technological College of the Philippines (SJTCP) was awarded to the project “Access Control System using Face Recognition and RFID for SJTCP.” The system gives students the option to use either facial recognition or RFID for access, offering a flexible yet secure solution.

The project was developed by Samantha Ann Lausin, John Kenneth Arjona, and Norman Jay Selga, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCpE) students, under the guidance of their adviser Mr. Reynaldo A. Dacoco.

What made their thesis stand out is its practical approach and strong technical depth, combining two technologies into a fully functional system. It’s a great example of how SJTCP students can create real-world, innovative solutions.
